LIFE IS A LEMON AND.....

Dom picked up an eye infection in the incisions on the right eye. By Friday it was all bright red and swollen so we popped up to the hospital. He is now on a high dose antibiotic for 8 days to shift it. Saturday it was really angry looking but today it looks like its turning the corner and hopefully tommorow it will be on the mend.
I'm abit fed up as I was all geared up for this just after the op. By now I had relaxed my mental guard so feeling abit down about it....so no piccies for a while......

Our hot water boiler packed up Saturday morning so have had no hot water all weekend. Just about enough tepid water for a superfast shower this morning. The electrician is due to come tommorow afternoon. Fingers crossed.

Duncan went to watch football tonight; his team, Spurs won the FA cup apparently. So someone is happy!!!

But all else is well with us I suppose; bah humbug:( Roll on summer.

UNDER SIEGE

Well, as I predicted; no work for Duncan today, and no school for the kids. School closed, as was post office and most shops/cafes in Neapoli.

The kids got Duncan to take them to the park in the village; where they and some school friends ambushed him with snowballs. Sob! Poor old me had to stay warm and dry inside with Dom (ha ha! It really was too cold to take him out, though we took him into the garden briefly and let him feel the snow. He was quite under whelmed by it actually; 'yesssss, what is it you are actually so excited about mum?'

Later on, I did get all bundled up and took Ella & Theo for a walk down to Limnes (neighbouring village) to see mum who has been snowed in for 2 days! Of course, it began to snowstorm when we were half way there! But had nice hot drinks at mums and dried out before the return. Duncan had good old sausages and mash waiting (bless him) and we are now in for the night.

It is continuing to snow on and off but I think the roads are now clear enough for normal life to resume tommorow - Ella is not very impressed!!

Hope you are all well?

SUNNY SATURDAY

Hi All,
Hope everyone is well. The day started so black and rainy I thought we'd be stuck indoors all day but it brightened up lovely so mum & I took the kids to Almyros beach. Dominic slept through near on the entire walk but Ella and Theo blew the cobwebs away. They're off to grandmas for the night and I'm vegging in front of the telly.
Dom doing well after op; It has taken no time at all for us all to get used to his new look. Monday, his stitches from his fall come out and then Tuesday we go for his post surgery eye check. All looks well anyway.
You know, I really think we all underestimated the effect his eyes had on his personality. I think he could see far less than we all knew. Since the operation he has been so sociable, more outgoing and dare I say it; naughty (shock horror, not my baby boy!!)
Anyway will pop on some photos of today on our walk.
Bye for now!

TOURING THE HOSPITALS OF CRETE PART 2

Took Ella and Theo to their friends birthday party at a local indoor play centre this afternoon. After 30 minutes I get a call from Duncan. Dominic has managed to fall over and cut his forehead.
Rush home to see huge gash. Jump in car and go to local hospital (not the one we have just left!).
Very confused medical staff until we explain about recent surgery and that the huge bump on the side of Dom's head is actually a shunt.
So there I am holding him down whilst they put two stitches into his forehead. He enjoyed it alot as you can imagine.
So now have more appointments for check ups and stitch removal next week. They wanted to give him antibiotics but he's already on them so thats good (!)
What next. Someone up there doesn't want me to give up the fags.
Here is a piccy of Dom tonight having a little bath in the sink. Note the shiny new dressing!
